Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) is built on a foundation of Open Source software and ZCS Open Source Edition is freely available for download. Zimbra offer a fully supported version of ZCS Open Source, called ZCS Network Edition which features many key enhancements not available in ZCS Open Source Edition:

• Support from Zimbra. Access to Support Portal for email, and phone crisis support plus file and track feature enhancements
• Desktop client compatibility. Sync mail, contacts, and calendar to Microsoft Outlook and/or to Apple (Mail, Address Book, iCal)
• Professional administration. Real time mailbox backup and restore, high availability clustering, storage cost management
• Zimbra Mobile. Over-the-air synchronization of mail, contacts, and calendar data with mobile devices
• Blackberry Enterprise Server support. Over-the-air synchronization of mail, contacts, and calendar to Blackberry devices

• Advanced web productivity. Ability to search for content inside attachments and view attachments as HTML instead of downloading
• Domain management. Ability to re-brand the web client and administer multiple customer domains

ZCS Network Edition Mailbox Types

For customers who are installing ZCS Network Edition on their own servers (Zimbra On-Site), mailboxes can be purchased as Standard and/or Professional types. Customers who purchase Hosted Zimbra from a Zimbra Hosting Service Provider may be offered other options as well as Standard and Professional - for example, many HSPs offer an entry level mailbox for those users who only require POP3/IMAP.
